The agent of Liverpool striker Divock Origi has confirmed that he has held talks with several clubs as the forward seeks a permanent exit away from Anfield this summer.

The 23-year-old Belgium international, who has 25 caps and three goals for his country, spent the majority of the last campaign on loan to German side Wolfsburg, making a solitary appearance for the Reds before heading off to the Bundesliga.

However he struggled for form, scoring just seven goals in 36 appearances, and as revealed by his representative Simon Bayliff, feels the move was a mistake, and that he is desperate to seal a permanent exit if Jurgen Klopp chooses not to make use of him after the summer.

Bayliff was quoted by Fotospor as saying: “The real mistake was that Divock was going to Wolfsburg. He will be back now. Jürgen (Klopp) will make a decision for him.

“But this time he does not want to leave on loan. It’s going to be a pity that the plans are respected. Maybe he will make a choice that will be thought of as a step backwards.

“I saw Besiktas. But not only the Tukish side, [clubs in] Spain and England, there are those who want him.”

Opinion

Origi certainly does not look like he has much of a future at Anfield and if he does it is very much as second fiddle. His struggles over in Germany will have hardly helped his cause and Klopp may well look to cash in on the Belgian, despite his versatility across the attack. The likes of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Dominic Solanke are all ahead of him in the pecking order and there will likely be more reinforcements brought in over the summer. Origi does not look like he wants to wait around and bide his time for a first team role and at 23-years-old he really should be playing regular football at a senior level. What sort of fee Liverpool can demand for his capture remains to be seen, but the Reds have likely witnessed Origi turning out for them for the last time.
