Everton will appoint Marco Silva as their next manager on Thursday afternoon, according to a reliable journalist.

Guardian reporter Andy Hunter claimed on his personal Twitter account that the 40-year-old will be confirmed as the next Toffees boss within hours.

The Merseyside club have been on the search to name Sam Allardyce’s successor at Goodison Park and it appears they have landed on the Portuguese boss.

Good move for Everton?

Silva is certainly the polar opposite to Allardyce and his appointment should overall go down well with Everton fans.

He has experience in English football and plays an attacking brand of football that the Toffees supporters are crying out for.

Silva will have his work cut out in the transfer window in remoulding the squad in his image and will need a few new attacking players.

However, the only question mark over him is the lack of longevity at previous clubs such as Hull and Watford, which is why Everton will need to try convince him it is a long-term project with them.
