Newcastle United are prepared to offload attacker Aleksandar Mitrovic on a permanent basis in the summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that the Magpies will demand a colossal £20million sum to sell the centre-forward at the end of the season.

He is currently enjoying a loan spell in the Championship with Fulham and has played a huge role in their push for promotion.

It is understood that the 23-year-old would like to remain at Fulham next year, but they would have to fork out for his signature as Newcastle want to receive a significant transfer fee.

Good move for Newcastle?

Mitrovic has shown that he is clinical in front of goal in recent months and has 12 goals in just 16 appearances for Fulham.

The Serbia international has it within him to be efficient in the Premier League too, but it seems like his days at St James’ Park under manager Rafael Benitez are numbered.

The Magpies should definitely hold out for a big transfer fee for him, but an exit in the summer could be the best move for both parties.

His sale would allow the club to bring in another striker more suited to Benitez with that money.

Likely to happen?

A potential Fulham switch for Mitrovic may hinge heavily on the club’s promotion bid and they go into the final day of the season still with a chance of finishing inside the top two.

The large price tag could be a deterrent to some clubs, but proven goalscorers are very much in-demand right now.
