West Ham all but secured their Premier League status for another season after a 2-0 win over Leicester City on Saturday and eyes can begin to turn towards next year.

The Hammers will reflect on what has been a fairly disappointing campaign and they currently sit 15th in the league standings, but would have hoped to be competing around the European spots of the table.

One of the main problem areas for the London-based club this season has been in goal and they need to fix it going into next year.

West Ham have the joint-worst defensive record in the league this season with 67 goals conceded, despite their clean sheet at the weekend against Leicester.

Both Adrian and loanee Joe Hart have had fair opportunities in net, but both aren’t good enough to be the number one goalkeeper next season.

David Moyes’ side need a new man in-between the sticks and should plot a raid for Liverpool ace Simon Mignolet.

The Sun reports that the 30-year-old goalkeeper is keen to leave Anfield this summer and that the Merseyside club will even help push through a move by selling him on for a bargain £10million sum.

It is understood that German outfit Borussia Dortmund are in the running to sign him, but West Ham should blow them out of the water.

He has made 22 appearances this season for Liverpool, but found himself stuck behind Loris Karius since the turn of the year.

However, he is a highly experienced shot-stopper that has proven himself and the majority of the time is a safe pair of hands.

Mignolet would no doubt be an upgrade on the current options at West Ham and to snap the Belgium international up for a mere £10million would be one hell of a deal.
