West Ham will most likely need another win in their remaining three Premier League games to secure safety, but after that their attention needs to turn to improving their squad drastically.

The Hammers need to strengthen if they are to be back in the top half of the league table next season, given they stay in the top flight, and there are several areas of David Moyes’ squad that needs addressing.

One main position that needs to be bolstered is in the heart of midfield, where they need some extra creativity and guile.

West Ham should consider lining up a move for Stoke City’s central midfielder Joe Allen, as he could be the perfect fit at the London Stadium.

The Sun reports that Championship title winners Wolves are lining up a £20million bid to sign the Premier League ace.

However, the Hammers should intervene at the start of the summer window and try to wrap up a deal for him.

Allen is a deep-lying playmaker that has proven himself in the top flight and would be an excellent addition to the squad.

The Wales international would provide a bit more flair than the likes of Pedro Obiang and Cheikhou Kouyate in the centre of the park, something that has been lacking.

He has been one of the shining lights in the Stoke side this campaign, scoring four goals and supplying seven assists across all competitions.

Allen is a midfield engine with a brilliant work-rate and for a near-£20million sum West Ham could look to pick up someone that would make an instant impact in their starting XI.
