Rangers defender is reportedly being lined by a host of Premier League clubs, but they may not be so keen after watching his performance in the Old Firm defeat to Celtic at the weekend.

The 27-year-old turned in a shocking display as his side were thrashed 5-0 day to their Old Firm rivals, which also handed them the league title for the seventh consecutive season.

Graeme Murty’s side were all over the place as a defensive unit and it could have been much worse if not for some inspired saves by goalkeeper Jan Alnwick.

One man that should have lifted his players on a difficult trip to Celtic is captain Tavernier, but he was nowhere near the races.

The right-back was given the runaround by Kieran Tierney and Callum McGregor, while also offering very little in an attacking sense unlike usual.

He was beaten one-on-one far too easily inside the penalty area and cast a dejected figure by the end of the match.

The Daily Mirror reports in its transfer blog (Saturday, 9:41pm) that Premier League trio Swansea, Burnley and Everton are all interested in signing Tavernier in the summer.

However, those reports are almost laughable based solely on Sunday’s display and he looked a million miles away from a Premier League defender.

Tavernier definitely suffered an off-day against Celtic and has shown in the past he is a talented full-back, scoring eight goals and supplying nine assists in all competitions this season.

The English defender has the attacking flair to boost most teams, but serious question marks have to arise over his defensive know-how and whether he could cut the grade in the Premier League.
