Everton are on course for an eighth-placed finish in the Premier League this season, but a lot of work needs to be done in the summer transfer window to help the club moving forward.

The Toffees are keen to be right in the mix for European spots and that will only take place if they invest further in their side.

One of the main problem areas for the Merseyside club is in defence, despite the fact they has massively improved under manager Sam Allardyce.

They have now shipped 54 goals in the Premier League and could do with some reinforcements at centre-back.

Everton should consider throwing their name into the hat to sign Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof, with a loan exit reportedly on the cards for him.

The Sun reports that United boss Jose Mourinho may send the 23-year-old out on loan next season despite being a big fan of his, with competition for places stiff at Old Trafford.

It is understood that a host of Premier League teams and European clubs have already made their interest clear in him.

Everton must be leading the queue to sign the Sweden international from second-placed Premier League rivals Manchester United.

Lindelof would be a brilliant addition to the Toffees side and help fit a missing jigsaw at Goodison.

He is a ball-playing centre-back that is excellent in possession and cost United a reported £31million last summer.

The defender has endured a mixed first season at Old Trafford and been guilty of some mistakes in his 28 first-team appearances, but it’s easy to forget this is his first taste in English football.

Lindelof has certainly done enough to show in glimpses he is a very talented defender and a regular run of starts at Everton would help bring the best out of him.
