After suffering a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of champions Manchester City on Sunday, West Ham United now have the worst defensive record in the Premier League this season.

David Moyes’ side have conceded a massive 67 goals in their 35 games played so far, and could very well end up as the worst defensive outfit in the league come the end of the season.

This will obviously mean that the Scot moves to bring in defensive reinforcements this summer, with his current crop of stoppers not up to scratch.

As reported by The Sun, Manchester United may look to loan out centre-back Victor Lindelof this summer as Jose Mourinho eyes deals for Samuel Umtiti and Jonny Evans.

The Sweden international would be the perfect addition to the Hammers back line this summer, and Moyes must be first in line to swoop for the 23-year-old.

Lindelof has had a tough time of it this season since joining the Red Devils in a £30million move from Benfica last summer, but has begun to come into his own in the second half of the campaign.

A brilliant performance for second-placed United against Arsenal in a 2-1 win on Sunday illustrated his development at Old Trafford, and he is shaping up to be a real star of the future.

It is therefore a surprise that Mourinho is looking to loan him out, but whatever the reasoning behind the move, the Hammers now have a golden opportunity to shore up their defence this summer.

The left-footer is not particularly big, but has good pace and is comfortable on the ball for a centre-back, which would allow the Hammers to play out the back.

Their current options do not allow them the opportunity to do so, and this would give the Irons another dimension to their game next season.

A loan deal represents a move with little risk, and therefore this is a no-brainer for West Ham as they look to make their league-worst defence a distant memory.
