Lee Tomlin completed 80 minutes in the win over Barnsley on Tuesday night – and the Nottingham Forest fans on Twitter raved about the quality of his performance.

The 29-year-old attacker was pivotal as Aitor Karanka’s side recorded a 3-0 home victory at the City Ground in the Championship encounter.

He netted the opening goal of the game in the first-half with a stunning curled effort from long-range, which was his fourth goal since he joined in January on loan.

Tomlin then turned provider moments later with a delightful reverse pass to striker Ben Brereton, who calmly took it around the goalkeeper to slot into an empty net.

Substitute Apostolos Vellios then added a late third goal for the hosts to add some gloss to the scoreline.

Tomlin has endured a mixed spell since he moved to Forest mid-way through the season from promotion chasers Cardiff City and has received criticism at times over his lack of involvement.

However, the English attacker was at his very best in midweek against Barnsley and showed what a threat he can be in front of goal.

Forest fans on social media waxed lyrical about Tomlin for his latest performance and one supporter suggested the club should sign him on a permanent basis.
