Petr Cech has been omitted from the starting XI on Thursday night against Atletico Madrid – and Arsenal fans on Twitter are mystified by the decision.
The Gunners host the Spanish outfit in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final clash, with the return fixture taking place a week later in Madrid.
Arsene Wenger, who is departing the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season, will be hoping he can bow out of Arsenal with a Europa League triumph to his name.
The North London club were dealt arguably the toughest opponent still remaining in the competition with Atletico, who have become a force in Europe during recent years.
Wenger has had a big decision to make over who starts in goal and has favoured Colombian David Ospina on Thursday night.
That means that Cech has had to make do with a place on the bench and it is a brave decision by the manager for the biggest game of the season.
Cech was given the nod to start both quarter-final matches against CSKA Moscow, but number two option Ospina has been propelled to the starting XI against Atletico.
Arsenal fans on social media are somewhat stunned that Cech is not starting against Atletico and hope that the decision does not come back to bite them.
