West Ham are one of three Premier League clubs eyeing Newcastle United centre-forward Aleksandar Mitrovic, according to CalcioMercato.

The Italian news outlet claims that the Hammers, Burnley and Crystal Palace are all interested in signing the 23-year-old Serbia international.

Mitrovic will return to Newcastle at the end of the season when talk about his future is expected to kick on, but right now he is enjoying a brilliant loan spell in the Championship with Fulham.

The powerful striker has scored 10 goals in just 14 appearances for the London-based club and is leading their promotion charge to get back to the Premier League.

Good move for West Ham?

West Ham could certainly do with another striker in the summer transfer window to help them kick on next season and unfortunately current option Andy Carroll is too injury prone.

Mitrovic is a very interesting option that has the potential to be a real success at the London Stadium if given the opportunity.

He is a clinical finisher that has scored goals wherever he has been at and his fiery character would make him a real favourite with Hammers supporters.

The Serbian’s form for Fulham has been quite sensational and he has the pedigree to repeat similar numbers in the top flight, while at the age of 23 he still has the potential to get even better.

Likely to happen?

Mitrovic certainly feels like a West Ham type of signing, but whether they would be able to pull it off is another matter.

The striker’s future is still up in the air and it’s unclear whether Newcastle view him as a part of their plans for next season, while surely Fulham would fancy a crack at a permanent deal if he gets them promoted.
