Everton are eyeing a summer move for West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims the Toffees want to launch a £25million pursuit for the 28-year-old in the summer transfer window at the end of the season.

It is understood that manager Sam Allardyce is a big fan of the left-back, who he originally signed when he was in charge of the Hammers.

The report details that the three-time capped England international would be keen on a move back to Merseyside as he is a Liverpudlian.

Cresswell is a left-sided flyer that can play as a full-back or winger, while he has also shown even further versatility at times this season for West Ham by playing at centre-back.

Good move for Everton?

Everton want to add some competition for the ageing left-back Leighton Baines ahead of next season and Cresswell would certainly do that.

He has shown at West Ham that he can perform well in the Premier League and also earned recognition at international level.

The defender has six assists in 32 games this season for the Hammers and quite often loves to bomb forward to help the attack.

Cresswell could be a decent signing for Everton, but the £25million price tag seems a tad high for a player that at times is still a little inconsistent.

Likely to happen?

The report details that current West Ham boss David Moyes will be reluctant to lose Cresswell in the summer, but the temptation of a move back to Merseyside could be too hard for the player to turn down.

There is no doubt that Everton should be looking for a new full-back and if Allardyce remains in charge at Goodison Park this deal has real potential.
