Everton have been named as a potential destination for Stoke City attacker Xherdan Shaqiri next season, according to CalcioMercato.

The Italian news outlet claims that the 26-year-old could leave the bet365 Stadium if the Potters are relegated from the Premier League.

Stoke are currently five points away from safety and have just four league games remaining to pull themselves out of a perilous position.

The report has listed Everton, West Ham and Crystal Palace as potential suitors for the left-footed ace if he does seal an exit in the summer.

Shaqiri is a versatile attacker that is usually deployed as a right-winger, but can also play in a more central role if required.

The Switzerland international is regarded as the outstanding individual at Stoke due to his technical ability, but even he may not be able to save his side from relegation to the Championship.

Good move for Everton?

Everton are on course for a mid-table finish and it has been a hugely disappointing season for them on the whole.

The Merseyside club certainly need an injection of quality in the summer transfer window and Shaqiri would bring that X-factor they are lacking.

Shaqiri has scored seven goals and supplied six assists in a struggling Stoke team this campaign, but those numbers could rise even higher at Goodison Park.

Likely to happen?

Shaqiri’s future is set to hinge on a Stoke relegation and right now it seems like they are quite likely to suffer the drop, but greater escapes have happened before in the past.

Everton seems like a logical step for the wide man if he is searching for a new club, but it appears they would have tough competition from London pair West Ham and Palace to sign him.
