Just when you thought things could not get any worse for Rangers Football Club, a new report threatens to take the club to an impossible new low.

According to the Daily Record, unrest is mounting in the Ibrox dressing room as several players prepare to leap to the defence of suspended duo Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace.

The newspaper claim that there is a large group of squad members who believe the senior duo have been hung out to dry by the club’s hierarchy in the aftermath of their 4-0 defeat to Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-finals.

It is said that several stars are ready to give testimony to the club’s internal investigation saying that the reported bust-up between the duo and manager Graeme Murty did not happen.

Some are thought to believe that Miller and Wallace are victims of internal politics at Ibrox after it was claimed that they launched into a foul-mouthed tirade at Murty in the dressing room at Hampden Park.

If this report is true, and unrest is indeed growing in the Auchenhowie dressing room, then Rangers have reached a new low beyond which they cannot go.

The 4-0 loss on the pitch was devastating, and that footballing disaster was just about enough for fans to take.

Add into that the public dispute between Alfredo Morelos and Greg Docherty at the final whistle, and the spat between Andy Halliday and a fan, and you have an increasingly embarrassing situation.

Now there is lurking the threat of a dressing room meltdown, with players ready to go against the club’s top brass, and things can literally not get any worse for the Light Blues.

It will be interesting to see what happens regarding the club’s internal investigation into the reported quarrel, with some press outlets suggesting that both Miller and Wallace will have played their last games for the club.

The fact that two of Rangers’ most-beloved players in recent memory may now be forced to move on in such acrimonious circumstances merely adds to the embarrassment and sadness of the situation.

If you look on the bright side you can see one positive for Rangers out of this farce, which is merely that the club cannot sink any lower.

The only way is up from here, and the club better rise fast or they could find themselves facing an insurmountable gap to Celtic, who will be laughing all the way to the double treble this season.
