A reported tunnel bust-up between Rangers players Alfredo Morelos and Greg Docherty after their Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic did not happen, according to a club insider.

Four Lads had a Dream, who is an established source for Rangers insider information, has claimed that the bust-up went no further than the pitch, with the duo seen arguing after the final whistle in the 4-0 thrashing.

It is said that reports of a tunnel bust-up are wide of the mark after Morelos was led into the Rangers dressing room by the club’s head of security.

Four Lads claim that a lack of camera footage of the incident is proof it did not happen, with the Hampden tunnel awash with cameras rolling at the time.

According to the Daily Record, the striker and midfielder clashed in the tunnel after exchanging angry words on the pitch after the 4-0 defeat at Hampden Park.

The newspaper claim that the duo had to be pulled apart with some of the Celtic backroom staff looking on, and the unrest continued into the dressing room.

OPINION

It wouldn’t be a surprise to hear the tunnel bust-up did not actually happen, with rumours always rife after teammates fall out on the pitch. Either way, Sunday was an embarrassing day for all involved at Rangers, and there will no doubt be severe repercussions. Manager Graeme Murty has surely lost his chance to take the job next season, although that is admittedly not all by his own doing. On top of that there will be many players on their way out of the club this summer after such an atrocious display in the biggest game of their season.
