West Ham fans on social media were furious with midfielder Joao Mario following his performance during the 4-1 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.
The Hammers slipped to a heavy defeat courtesy of the Gunners, despite previously working hard to get themselves back on level terms after going a goal down early into the second half.
While supporters were generally disheartened at their side’s failure to gain any points from Sunday’s game, they were particularity infuriated by Mario after watching his display.
One fan tweeted that they simply didn’t rate the 25-year-old attacking midfielder, while another labelled him not good enough for the club as he has been consistently poor.
Mario received a lot of criticism from fans during the game for his corners, especially as his one of his corners directly led to the Gunners’ opening goal of the game.
One supporter stated on Twitter that there was no excuse for Mario’s delivery from corners to be so bad and that he should have been taken off after inadvertently causing the Gunners to score.
The 25-year-old arrived at the London Stadium in January after joining on loan from Inter Milan, and is currently set to return to his parent club in the summer.
