Liverpool have announced that forward Roberto Firmino has put pen to paper on a new long-term deal at Anfield, and fans have gone into meltdown on Twitter.
As confirmed on the club’s official website, the Brazil international has agreed terms on a new contract and has committed his long-term future to the Reds.
It is not stated exactly how long the contract is set to keep Firmino on Merseyside, but with his old deal running until 2020 it is expected that these new terms will see a decent extension on that.
The 26-year-old joined the club from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim in the summer of 2015, going on to make 140 appearances for Liverpool and scoring 50 goals so far.
He is enjoying his best season to date for the Reds this time round, with Firmino having netted 27 times in all competitions, including 15 in the Premier League and ten in the Champions League.
The forward has also been prolific in terms of assists, setting up goals for his teammates on 16 occasions so far this campaign as he has become one of their most important players.
Fans took to Twitter in meltdown after the announcement, with Firmino obviously a favourite among the Anfield faithful.
