Everton are interested in signing Anderlecht winger Mahmoud Hassan, according to The Sun.

The newspaper claim that the Toffees along with Bournemouth and Galatasaray are keen to recruit the 23-year-old in the summer, as he has impressed on loan at Turkish side Kasimpasa this season.

The Sun report that Hassan is expected to feature for Egypt, alongside Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, at the World Cup in the summer as he is a regular member of his nation’s starting line-up.

The 23-year-old winger has scored 12 goals, while creating three for Kasimpasa this season, and parent club Anderlecht are resigned to losing him in the summer as the player has no desire to return to Belgium.

It is believed that Hassan, who is nicknamed “Trezeguet”, is hoping to perform well enough in the summer for Egypt in order to get his dream move to England.

The winger is about to enter the final year of his Anderlecht contract in the summer.

Good move for Everton?

Not overly.

The Sun’s report states that Sam Allardyce is looking to add another wide option to his squad next season, but Theo Walcott and Yannick Bolasie should be more than enough.

While Hassan might be good enough to play at Goodison Park next season, given his age and the interest there is already in him, he might cost too much to be a viable signing.

The 23-year-old would clearly be back-up to Walcott and Bolasie if he arrived, and the Toffees need to prioritise where they spend their transfer funds.

Likely to happen?

It sounds like Hassan will definitely be on the move in the summer, but his performance at the World Cup could determine the club he ends up at.

If the 23-year-old shines alongside Salah, who has been a sensation in the Premier League this season, then clubs in England will go all out to sign him.

However it’s hard to imagine that one of those clubs will be the Toffees as they’re not short of wingers.
