Everton are interested in a summer swoop for Hannover 96 midfielder Marvin Bakalorz, according to Turkish Football.

The football news site report that a source close to the 28-year-old enforcer has confirmed that the Toffees have shown interest in a summer deal.

Turkish Football claim that Everton have been regularly scouting Bakalorz, who will have just one year left on his contract at Hannover this summer.

It is revealed that Everton have prioritised midfield reinforcements this summer, with Bakalorz one of the club’s targets in that area.

Good move for Everton?

There is no doubt that the Toffees need to strengthen in midfield if they want to become more competitive next term, but there would be questions over Bakalorz being the answer.

The 28-year-old never turned out for the Borussia Dortmund first-team during three years at the club, and has been flitting between minor Bundesliga sides ever since.

Everton need someone who is verging on world class to come in and take charge of their faltering midfield, and Bakalorz is not likely to be that man.

He may be a solid squad addition, but there is little to suggest he would be any more than that.

Likely to happen?

As reported by Turkish Football, Galatasaray and Leeds United are also interested in the 28-year-old.

It would look more likely that the 28-year-old will head to the Turkish Super Lig or the Championship than the Premier League, with Everton bringing in someone more suitable.
