Aston Villa will need to significantly improve their squad if they obtain promotion this season and Leeds United playmaker Pablo Hernandez should pop up as a target for them.

The Midlands giants are still chasing a return to the Premier League and are likely to be involved in the end of season play-offs.

Manager Steve Bruce will need a revamp in the summer of his squad and as it stands both Robert Snodgrass and Lewis Grabban will leave after their respective loan deals expires.

Villa should consider bringing in attacking genius Hernandez as a replacement and he could be the perfect addition ahead of a return to the top flight, with his previous experience at Swansea.

The 32-year-old will see his current deal at Elland Road expires in the summer, but he has been a key player for them and shown he is still on top of his game.

He has made 36 appearances across all competitions this term, scoring seven gaols and supplying nine assists.

The Spanish creator can fill in anywhere across the frontline and would be a decent replacement for Snodgrass.

Villa would have to move fast to try secure a deal as the Daily Mail reports that Leeds have opened talks with Hernandez about extending his deal.

The report details that Birmingham have shown an interest in securing his signature, but Villa should blow both Leeds and their Midlands rivals out of the water by trying to land him.
