Aston Villa have announced that young winger Andre Green has been awarded a new deal, and fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight at the news.
The 19-year-old dazzler has had an injury-hit season with a serious hamstring problem sustained in September keeping him out of action for three months.
Green has since returned to play just once for the senior side, completing 45 minutes in their 3-1 loss in the FA Cup third round to Peterborough.
The winger has however been left out of Steve Bruce’s Championship squads since his return, and has made just eight appearances in all competitions so far as he makes his way back from injury.
Despite all that, the club have decided to reward Green with a new deal that takes him through to 2020, as reported on their official website.
The club also report that Green is expected to return to full fitness after the upcoming international break, which should mean that Villa fans get to see him turn out for the senior side once again.
Fans have taken to Twitter to react with delight at the academy graduate’s new deal, with many calling for Bruce to play the 19-year-old now that he is close to fitness.
