Aston Villa fans took to social media on Friday to celebrate the fact that James Bree was set to start against Bolton on Saturday.

Steve Bruce confirmed in his pre-game conference for the clash against The Trotters, that the 20-year-old was set to make a rare appearance for the Villans in the Championship.

“James Bree has been chomping at the bit and it’s his chance,” stated Bruce, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.

“He’s been waiting patiently and has trained well so he’ll be in at left-back.”

The Villans manager is opting to start the right-back out of position against Bolton as Alan Hutton, Axel Tuanzebe and Neil Taylor were all revealed to be unavailable in his press conference.

“Tayls is a problem, so is Alan Hutton and Axel Tuanzebe,” Bruce said.

“It seems to be the theme – we get injuries in the same department.”

Bree has only made three appearances in the league this season, with his last outing in the Championship being made in September against Brentford.

Most of the 20-year-old’s appearances during this campaign, have been made in the Premier League 2 as a member of the Villans’ U-23s team.

Supporters were thrilled to hear that Bree would feature on Saturday, with one fan tweeting that they were actually buzzing over the news.

While another supporter shared that the 20-year-old had the potential to be a quality full-back and that they were happy to see him actually getting a chance.
