Aston Villa fell to a massively disappointing 3-1 loss at home to QPR on Tuesday evening, and fans have taken to Twitter to rip into the performance of midfielder Conor Hourihane.

Villa headed into the match in a strong position, sitting in third in the table, four points behind second-placed Cardiff in the race for automatic promotion.

Steve Bruce’s side were also coming in off the back of three consecutive wins, the last of which was a massive 4-1 win over league leaders Wolves at the weekend.

However, the Villans did not carry that form into this one and found themselves behind after 12 minutes, with Ryan Manning heading the R’s into an early lead.

Left-back Jake Bidwell then doubled their lead on 33 minutes with a low left-footed shot to give them a comfortable half-time advantage.

Villa could not find a way back into the game in the second-half however and Luke Freeman sealed the points for QPR as he drilled home in the 82nd minute.

James Chester scored a late consolation for Villa with two minutes remaining, with the club condemned to their first defeat at home in four months, with QPR securing just their third away win of the season.

Villa are now seven points behind Cardiff after the Bluebirds beat Brentford 3-1, and fans took to Twitter after the match to destroy 27-year-old Hourihane for his display.
