Former Premier League goalkeeper Alex Manninger revealed that he thought Jurgen Klopp would not leave Liverpool anytime soon.

The 40-year-old, who spent a short amount of time at the Reds training under Klopp last season, shared that even if the Juventus job became available, the German manager wouldn’t take it.

“Klopp will not think a second to leave Liverpool because he has just renewed the contract,” said Manninger in an interview with Ilbianconero.

“But not only, he is not a technician who goes away for another team, he is a person who does not like to leave the job in half and the project he started in 2015, he wants to complete it.”

Manninger then added that he thought Klopp have brought enthusiasm back to Liverpool because he had done a very good job, but predicted that he was still a few years off winning silverware.

“He brought enthusiasm back to the city, he’s doing very well and he’s still missing a few years to win something,” said the 40-year-old.

Manninger despite signing a contract at the Reds last season, failed to make any appearances for the club and retired from football when his contract expired.

The 40-year-old goalkeeper may not have made an appearance for the Reds but he did feature for Arsenal 39 times when he was the club between 1997 and 2002.

OPINION

Klopp has done a fantastic job at Liverpool and should have no thoughts about leaving the club. Manninger was asked about the German potentially taking over at Juventus if Massimiliano Allegri left the club and was very confident in denying that there was no chance of that happening. However it’s worrying that the retired goalkeeper thinks Klopp is still a few years away from winning trophies at Anfield. The Reds should be lifting silverware next season, as they have a team capable of bringing success to the club. It’s hard to imagine that Klopp will be allowed to stay as the Reds’ manager if he doesn’t add trophies to the cabinet anytime soon.
