Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has revealed that striker Jonathan Kodjia will return to full training on Monday, and fans have gone into meltdown on Twitter at the huge news.

Ivory Coast international Kodjia has missed the majority of the season after undergoing a second operation on a serious ankle injury.

The 28-year-old initially suffered the injury at the end of last season and underwent surgery on the complaint before returning in mid-September.

However, Kodjia aggravated the injury while on international duty with the Ivory Coast at the end of October, and has been missing for the Villans since after being forced to undergo a second operation.

It was thought that the striker, who was Villa’s top scorer last season with 19 goals, may not play again this season, but Bruce has now revealed that may not be the case as he returns to full training next week.

Bruce was speaking in the pre-match press conference before they take on league leaders Wolves at Villa Park on Saturday evening, and the news was confirmed on the club’s official Twitter account:

Fans have now taken to Twitter to react with delight to the news, with Kodjia’s potential return a massive boost to the club’s hopes of promotion.
