Aston Villa are interested in signing West Brom defender Craig Dawson, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claims that the Baggies are set to lose a number of first teamer over the summer transfer window as they look destined to suffer a relegation from the Premier League.

It is understood that top-flight club Burnley are set to lead the chase for the 27-year-old after their manager Sean Dyche failed with a previous attempt.

The report details that Burnley are set to spark a £10million chase, but Championship duo Villa and Middlesbrough are also interested.

Both Championship teams are only likely to rival Burnley for the West Brom ace if they manage to earn promotion this season, with both clubs looking likely to end up in the play-offs.

Villa definitely need some Premier League experience if they get promoted and Dawson would provide the know-how they seek.

However, his £10million price tag seems far to high and Steve Bruce’s side must avoid paying over the odds for him.

He is not blessed with blistering pace despite despite being a full-back and also looks shaky when he plays centre-back due to his versatility.
