Tottenham and Crystal Palace regularly scout Mallorca’s Joan Sastre, according to Marca.

The Spanish newspaper claim that while several top clubs in Spain and England have shown an interest in the speedy right-back, Spurs and Crystal Palace have shown the most.

Marca report that Sastre has a cancellation clause in his contract that will rise from £2.6 million to£4.4 million at the end of the season.

However, it is believed that Mallorca would be willing to negotiate regarding those figures as they’re aware of clubs being interested in their player.

The 20-year-old right-back has made 27 appearances this season and contributed three goals to help his side’s cause.

Marca’s report goes on to reveal that all of the teams interested in Sastre, want the right-back to play at a higher level than the third tier of Spanish football on a regular basis, in order to see how good he is.

Good move for Tottenham?

Yes, but it’s a move made with the future in mind.

Sastre clearly has potential to be a star further down the road, given the type of teams that are showing an interest, but not much is known about the defender.

The 20-year-old currently plays his football in the third tier of Spanish football and until he gets an opportunity to test himself at a higher level, it’s hard to know how good he is.

Likely to happen?

Marca are generally a reliable source, so there’s no reason to doubt the fact that Spurs are regularly scouting the star.

At this moment in time, given the level Sastre is playing at, it seems like a move to sign him is a long way off happening.

The right-back may have a cheap cancellation clause in his contract, but his deal is still set to run until 2020.

The newspaper’s report also names Atletico Madrid as being interested and it makes more sense, that the youngster would be tempted to move to a top club in Spain.
