Tottenham will sanction the permanent exit of centre-forward Fernando Llorente in the summer transfer window, according to the Evening Standard.

The newspaper claims that Spurs will put the 33-year-old up for sale at the end of the season after a difficult first season with the North London club.

It is understood that the Spaniard will not get a sustained run in the team during the coming weeks if Harry Kane faces a long injury spell as Erik Lamela will be preferred to come into the team.

Llorente is consider a senior player in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, but it hasn’t quite happened for him since he arrived from Swansea and struggled for minutes.

He has made 28 appearances across all competitions this season and scored five goals in return.

Good move for Spurs?

Llorente can be considered a failure as a back-up option to Kane and versatile attacker Heung-Min Son is likely to get the nod in the near future over him.

The ex-Swansea ace scored 15 Premier League goals last season, but needs to be starting games and that is impossible within the current group of players.

Spurs could do with another high-profile as his replacement to really push Kane and allow for rotation in more games.

Likely to happen?

Llorente’s Spurs career has not taken over and he looks destined to move away in the summer.

There should no shortage of interest in the colossus attacker as he is an experienced player and a goalscorer in the penalty areas.
