Everton are lining up a move for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that The Toffees will join the race for the 26-year-old at the end of the season if he cannot resolve his contract situation at the Emirates.

It is understood that his current deal with Arsenal expires in the summer and he is at a stand-off with the North London club as he is refusing to accept an £80,000-a-week offer, which would be a pay cut.

The report details that Arsene Wenger’s side have made just one contract offer so far for the England international and as it stands he will become a free agent in the summer.

The Mail reports that Everton are prepared to make a “lucrative” move for Wilshere and include a big bonus to move to Goodison Park.

Italian duo Juventus and AC Milan are also keen on the central midfielder, but he would prefer to stay in the Premier League.

Good move for Everton?

Wilshere would be a brilliant signing for Everton in the summer if his future lies away from Arsenal.

The pass master is a brilliant technical player that can run games in the midfield and has a brilliant range of passing.

He has managed to mainly stay clear of injuries this season and could play an integral role for England in the summer at the World Cup.

Wilshere has been a shinning light in a poor season for Arsenal and he would definitely be an upgrade in Everton’s midfielder if he linked up with the Merseyside club.

Likely to happen?

Arsenal fans are desperate for Wilshere to extend his stay with the club, but an exit is certainly on the cards and they have made a real mess of his contract situation.

Everton definitely seem like a strong candidate for the midfielder if he is to leave and will have to play the waiting game until the summer.
