Leeds United attacker Pablo Hernandez is being eyed by Championship rivals Birmingham, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The newspaper reports in its print edition (Page 65, 18 March) that Birmingham manager Garry Monk wants a reunion with the 32-year-old, with the pair previously working together at Elland Road.

Hernandez’s current deal with the Whites is due to expire at the end of the season, meaning he would be available as a free agent in the summer.]

The creative playmaker has been a key player for the Yorkshire giants, but the club are yet to sort out his future.

Good move for Leeds?

No. The Leeds fans would erupt if this move took place and rightfully so.

They can’t afford to lose Hernandez in the summer given his importance to the side, let alone the fact that it would be Monk stealing him away.

The Spanish maestro can play anywhere across the frontline and has had a strong individual campaign.

He has made 35 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals and supplying eight assists.

Leeds do need a big overhaul of their squad in the summer, but Hernandez is a figure that must be kept.

Likely to happen?

Leeds fans may not like to hear it, but the longer Hernandez’s future remains up in the air, the more chance he could be off in the summer.

It is clear that the playmaker has to be kept at Elland Road and Heckingbottom would surely want him as part of his plans moving forward, but his situation is definitely worrying.
