Charlie Nicholas has predicted that West Ham will be relegated this season due to the atmosphere being toxic at the club.

The Sky Sports pundit shared that he thought the Hammers, West Bromwich Albion and Huddersfield Town would be the three sides to drop out of the Premier League this season.

Nicholas went on to state the reasons why he thought each club would be relegated and when speaking about the Hammers refer to the scenes that occurred during the 3-0 defeat to Burnley last Saturday.

“Finally, after the embarrassing scenes last weekend, West Ham are my third side to face the drop,” said Nicholas, as quoted by Sky Sports’ official website.

“The atmosphere at that club is toxic right now and it is going to be very difficult to turn that around before the end of the season.”

David Moyes’ side currently sit 16th in the league, three points clear of the relegation zone.

OPINION

No one wanted to see the type of scenes that happened against Burnley at the London Stadium last week, but it’s harsh to imply that Hammers fans will cause the team to get relegated. The supporters protested because their club has been in such a mess this season that the lack of quality on the pitch was suggesting that they were heading to the Championship. While Nicholas is right about labeling the toxic atmosphere as a problem, the Hammers could easily have been relegated without it. The club failed to sign what they needed in January and this has left Moyes trying to mould a successful team without any tools.
