Tottenham scouts must alert Mauricio Pochettino to Red Bull Salzburg’s Diadie Samassekou as he is the perfect replacement for Victor Wanyama.
Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo reported that Spurs scouts were jetting in to Austria in order to watch RB Salzburg take on Borussia Dortmund on Thursday and the defensive midfielder should grab their attention.
Spurs need to axe Wanyama from their team as even though he is a decent defensive presence, since coming back from injury he hasn’t really shown that he is capable of anything else.
Wanyama could arguably have still been rusty in the 16 appearances he has made during this campaign, as he was on the sidelines for a long time, but Spurs need to have a long-term replacement ready for him, in case he continues to fail to impress.
Samassekou who has made 37 appearances across all competitions for the Austrian side this season and has won the midfield battle for his team more often than not, is the perfect player to replace Wanyama at Spurs.
The 22-year-old has stood out in the eight appearances he has made in the Europa League during this campaign in particular, as he has showcased his ability to dictate the tempo of a game.
Samassekou is strong in the challenge and is able to burst forward with the ball upon winning it, showcasing his dazzling dribbling ability in order to help launch very successful counter-attacks for his side.
Even though he is four-years younger than Wanyama, he already looks like being a more complete player.
Therefore with the Spurs scouts going to witness RB Salzburg on Thursday, Samassekou will hopefully standout to them as he’s the perfect replacement for Wanyama at the club.
