RB Leipzig have exceeded all expectations with their displays in the Bundesliga since achieving promotion in 2016, and one of the club’s biggest stars has been Swedish winger Emil Forsberg.

The 26-year-old finished Leipzig’s debut season in the Bundesliga with an incredible 22 assists in just 30 matches as the side finished second in a breakthrough season.

However, the assist king has not enjoyed the same kind of season this time around, having fallen out of favour with manager Ralph Hasenhuttl in recent months.

Forsberg has registered just three assists in all competitions so far to go alongside just four goals, and if the latest report is to be believed, the Sweden international should be on his way this summer.

According to Calciomercato, Forsberg took exception to playing just 22 minutes in Leipzig’s 2-1 victory over league leaders Bayern Munich at the weekend, resulting in a fiery argument with Hasenhuttl.

He now is reportedly likely to move on this summer, with the interested parties including Bayern, Monaco, Juventus and Arsenal, but Tottenham would do well to swoop in and make a move for Forsberg this summer.

The club are just a couple of quality players away from a squad that will be able to challenge for the Premier League title again, and one area where they need reinforcements is at playmaker.

Christian Eriksen takes on all responsibilities in such a role for Spurs at the moment, but he needs an able back-up who would be able to slot in when needed.

Forsberg can not only do that but also provide competition for a place on the wing for Tottenham, which is where he has played much of his Leipzig career.

It is pretty clear that his time at Leipzig is coming to an end, with his decreased involvement and floundering form, along with his ailing relationship with Hasenhuttl all suggesting that a summer move is on the cards.

And Tottenham would be the perfect destination for the 31-times Sweden international.
