Manchester United are interested in signing Tottenham’s Nonso Madueke, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claim that the talented 16-year-old midfielder turned down a new contract at Spurs and is ready to leave the club.

The Daily Mail report that United have tracked Madueke’s progress for the past 18 months, and have invited him to join up with their U-16s squad that is set to play in the MIC Tournament this week.

As Spurs offered the midfielder a new contract, if the 16-year-old opts to leave, they will be entitled to compensation.

Good move for Tottenham Hotspur?

No. Madueke clearly has something about him in order to attract Man United’s attention.

The 16-year-old is also believed to have previously interested Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail’s report, which is another indication of his talent.

Spurs will also not like the idea of a promising prospect leaving them in order to join another youth-system in the Premier League.

However by offering him a new deal, it seems Spurs have done all they can in order to try and keep him at the club.

Likely to happen?

Yes, with Madueke looking like he will at least have a trial with Manchester United, then his short Spurs career looks over.

The talented midfielder will more than likely earn a deal at Old Trafford if he performs to his ability.

As it’s still early in Madueke’s career, Spurs won’t beat themselves up too much for losing the talented midfielder, however they may end up being upset about letting him go if he ends up fulfilling his potential.
