Tottenham Hotspur clinically dispatched of Swansea City in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday, and there were several stand-out performances from Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

One, however, stands out more than the rest, and could potentially be a watershed moment for Spurs this season.

Midfielder Moussa Sissoko has come in for some harsh criticism this season, but the France international was outstanding for Spurs on Saturday.

Playing in midfield alongside Eric Dier, the 28-year-old managed to help run the game for Spurs in the engine room, and provided moments of brilliance in both attack and defence.

It is the kind of display that Spurs fans had hoped for when they signed him from Newcastle for £30million in the summer of 2016, but one that has come all too infrequently for Sissoko.

Too often he has been a passenger for Spurs, and at times he has been worse, weighing the team down with inept displays in midfield.

However, he looked like a new man on Saturday, showing marked improvements in almost every area of his game.

His passing was accurate, his first touch was decent, and he used his rarely-seen pace to good effect with some smart attacking runs and good defensive cover.

It was, with certainty, his best display in a Spurs shirt so far, and is hopefully a watershed moment in his career at the club.

It is also a display that has come at the perfect time for Spurs, who face a crucial run-in as they look to secure a top-four place once again and attempt to win some elusive silverware in the FA Cup.

If he keeps this up, an in-form Sissoko will almost become a new signing for Tottenham, who have never seen his real talent shine through at the club.
