Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has heaped praise on attacker Heung-Min Son ahead of the Champions League showdown with Juventus.

Spurs welcome the Serie A giants to Wembley on Wednesday night for the second leg of their European tie.

The North London club earned a 2-2 draw out in Italy to leave to the contest evenly poised and will be looking to finish the job to reach the Champions League quarterfinals.

Pochettino has raved about Spurs attacker Son in the build up to the midweek clash, but refused to confirm if he would be involved in the starting XI.

The 25-year-old scored a brace in the 2-0 win over Huddersfield at the weekend and it’s believed he is in a two-horse race with teammate Erik Lamela to start against Juventus.

“He doesn’t need to do too much. He just needs to wait for the starting XI and see if he starts. I am happy with him. He is scoring goals and assists and doing well. We are happy with him,” Pochettino said in his pre-match press conference for Juventus, as cited by Football.London.

OPINION

There is a mystery over whether Son will feature in the starting XI against Juventus on Wednesday as he missed out in the first leg, with Lamela getting the nod in the high pressure game. However, Pochettino surely can’t ignore the good form of the South Korea international and should deploy him as they look to send out a real statement in Europe. Son has already scored 15 goals and supplied nine assists this campaign, which heavily outweigh his counterpart Lamela. The left-winger certainly has the firepower to breakthrough the Juventus backline and definitely deserves a starting role given the extra dimension he adds to the team going forward.
