Piers Morgan has taken to Twitter to wind up Tottenham after they were eliminated rom the Champions League by Italian giants Juventus.

Spurs slipped to a 2-1 home defeat at Wembley on Wednesday night, meaning they bowed out in the last 16 4-3 on aggregate.

Celebrity Arsenal fan Morgan on social media posted “ouch” on his official Twitter account as the North London club were eliminated from Europe’s elite club competition.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be proud of their performance over the two legs against Juventus, but ultimately the Premier League side fell just short.

Heung-Min Son’s first-half goal put the hosts 3-2 up in the tie as the English club edged closer to the quarter-finals.

However, the experience of Juventus told in the end as they turned the game on its head with two quick-fire second-half gaols through Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala.

OPINION

Morgan’s tweet is slightly rich given the current position of Arsenal as they prepare for their Europa League clash with Juventus on Thursday night and right now Spurs are miles ahead of the Gunners. However, it will be a massive disappointment for Pochettino as his team once again fell short in Europe and it seems like one step forward to steps back with his team. They have certainly made massive strides in recent years, but they were punished for switching off for three minutes in the second-half. Spurs’ hunt for silverware continues and they need to win trophies to keep together what is a very talented core of players. The FA Cup is now a real opportunity for them this season and of course maintaining their position in the top four of the Premier League.
