Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray has revealed that he is running out of ways to praise Adam Armstrong after being impressed by the Newcastle United loanee.

The experienced manager shared that he had been impressed with the 21-year-old forward and stated that Rafa Benitez had no doubt witnessed clips of Armstrong’s displays this season.

“I don’t know what else to say about Adam, to be honest,” said Mowbray as quoted by the Lancashire Telegraph.

“He’s a young lad learning the game, and I’m sure Rafa Benitez will see the video clips of all of the goals he’s scoring.

“He scored a fantastic goal against Wigan and two more brilliant goals against Blackpool, goals like his second one are never easy but he kept it down and put it into the corner.

“He also works extraordinarily hard, it’s not as though he’s a striker who just stands there, I’ll look forward to him scoring many more goals.

“He’s a young guy who’s come from a Premier League club and, with all respect to League One, his attributes and quality, his ability to score with both feet, mean he’s better than League One I’d suggest.”

The 21-year-old is on loan at Blackburn until the end of the season, and has already scored seven goals in 12 league appearances for them so far.

Armstrong has been loaned out several times by the Magpies over the course of the last few seasons, spending time at Coventry City as well as Bolton.

OPINION

Armstrong is a talented forward and the Magpies are no doubt aware of that. It would have been nice if the 21-year-old had managed to find a Championship side to join on loan, as that would have really tested his abilities. Armstrong may be impressing in League One, but it’s hard to know how far he is off being able to feature for the Magpies’ in the Premier League next season. While it’s true that Benitez’s side could find themselves in the Championship for their next campaign, as they’re still in danger of being relegated, Armstrong will hope that isn’t the case.
