Liverpool have stepped up contract talks with youth striker Rhian Brewster amid interest from the Premier League and abroad, according to The Sun

The newspaper report that Brewster is facing a tough decision this summer as his Reds scholarship contract comes to an end and several clubs offer him his first professional deal.

The Sun claim that Liverpool are desperate not to lose the in-demand 17-year-old, who has been earmarked as a future star, with the club showing signs that he may be given a first-team squad place next season.

It is said that Brewster’s decision will ultimately come down to picking the club where he believes he will be given the best opportunity to play regular first-team football.

Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are all reportedly eyeing Brewster up ahead of his summer decision.

OPINION

It would be a massive shame for Liverpool to lose Brewster at this point. The 17-year-old is just entering the age where a professional debut is on the horizon, and for the Reds to lose out on his talents would be a big loss. However, you would think that will not happen. Jurgen Klopp is known to be a big fan, and the club have begun to make the right noises about giving him a shot in the first-team set-up next season. Leaving Liverpool would be a risk for Brewster, and the likely decision is surely to be extending his stay on Merseyside.
