Liverpool fans shared their disappointment on social media after a report revealed that they were close to agreeing a deal with AS Monaco for Thomas Lemar.
Le 10 Sport reported that the Reds had nearly agreed a price for the 22-year-old winger after previously having a bid in the region £71.5million rejected in the final days of the summer transfer window.
The French football outlet claimed that once the Reds had agreed a price with Monaco, then getting Lemar’s signature would be easy as he would be close to saying yes to a move to Anfield, if his club approved a transfer.
The winger, who can play on either flank, has scored three goals in 27 appearances for his Ligue 1 side this season.
As well as scoring three times, Lemar has registered eight assists during this campaign.
However despite this, several Reds supporters took to Twitter to reveal that they didn’t want the club to sign Lemar and hoped that the report was wrong.
One supporter tweeted that while the Monaco winger was skillful, there were several other players they would rather see the club sign.
While another fan revealed that they believed there was no need to sign him and referred to Lemar as France’s Michu, with Michu being famous for having only one good season in the Premier League.

Skilful player but I prefer a more pacy Fekir or experienced James Rodriguez. We need one of them to replace Coutinho and a number 6, Jorginho or Pjanic.
