Key Aston Villa attacking duo Jack Grealish and Albert Adomah could both return from injury to face Sunderland on Tuesday, according to the Birmingham Mail

The newspaper claim that Grealish, who has been missing for three games with a calf complaint, may possibly return against the Black Cats.

Grealish has not been able to train with the injury but manager Steve Bruce is reportedly hoping he will return on Tuesday, although whether that happens is said to remain touch-and-go.

Regardless of whether the 22-year-old does return on Tuesday, the attacking midfielder is reportedly expected back for sure this weekend as the Villans face leaders Wolves at home.

Winger Adomah, who is Villa’s top scorer this season, has been missing since the Birmingham City match in mid-February with a hamstring injury.

The 30-year-old is however said to be expected back on Tuesday, and would have been selected for Villa’s clash with QPR at the weekend had it not been postponed due to adverse weather.

OPINION

Grealish and Adomah will be absolutely key to Villa’s promotion hopes this season, and the sooner they return the better. The club got back on track last time out with a win over Sheffield Wednesday, but still have work to do to catch Cardiff, who occupy the last automatic promotion spot. Basement club Sunderland are fighting for their life and Tuesday’s game will not be easy, but the return of Grealish and Adomah will help Villa’s cause.
