Erik Lamela should be very fearful of a Tottenham exit in the near future after the club signed speed merchant Lucas Moura on deadline day.

Spurs confirmed the signing of blistering attacker Moura from Paris Saint-Germain for a reported £23million sum.

The 25-year-old right-winger has the potential to light up the Premier League with his trickery and goal threat under Mauricio Pochettino’s guidance.

He leaves PSG with a good reputation and the Brazilian should add an extra injection of pace in the final third for the north London club.

However, his arrival has cast even further doubts over the future of fan favourite Lamela and the writing may already be on the wall for his future.

The Argentinian wide man is already behind regular starters Heung-Min Son, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli in the pecking order, while Moura could soon be added to that list if he hits the ground running.

The Independent reported that Spurs rejected a loan approach from Premier League rivals from Southampton on deadline day for Lamela, which was swiftly rejected.

Meanwhile, Football London have reported that Pochettino’s side are in fact lining him up for a new contract in the summer given that his current deal expires in 2020.

However, if he is to rarely feature in the second half of the campaign there is no way that Spurs can follow through with that plan.

Lamela has not looked himself since his return from a long-term injury and right now it seems impossible that he will force his way into the starting XI.

The left-footed playmaker has not scored in his 13 games this campaign and Moura’s recent arrival can only be bad news for him.
