Aston Villa drew 1-1 at home to Preston North End in the Championship on Tuesday evening, and fans have taken to Twitter to slaughter the display of on-loan midfielder Josh Onomah.
Villa saw their seven-game winning streak broken by Fulham at the weekend, with the Cottagers running out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Ryan Sessegnon and Floyd Ayite.
That result had seen Cardiff City shunt Villa down to third in the Championship table in the race for the final automatic promotion spot, where they now remain after Tuesday’s draw.
In a very quiet first 45 minutes it took until a few minutes before half-time for the deadlock to be broken, with Tom Barkhuizen putting the visitors ahead with an overhead kick.
The Preston winger was quickest to react when Sam Johnstone failed to clear from the Villa box, and hooked his finish home to send the visiting side into the lead.
Villa came back into the match through a 66th minute penalty, with January signing Lewis Grabban slotting the spot-kick home.
Focus during and after the game switched to the display of Onomah, who was brought into the side to replace Ahmed Elmohamady, with the Tottenham man disappointing throughout.

Onomah should be sent back to spurs can’t believe he’s still playing ahead of Callum O’Hare who’s a far better player, we should be developing our own players not someone else’s #AVFC #utv

I rated Onomah until we played Blues away. Good prospect, bad attitude. You can tell he does not want to play for Villa. Time to drop him completely and give Callum O'Hare a chance ! #AVFC

Onomah has been dire.

Yeah classic. Onomah is garbage, he may do something with his career but right now for Villa he is garbage

There is only 11 months age difference with Onomah and O'Hare so I ask the question again! Why oh why are we playing Onomah when he's a poor loan player? #avfc #confused
