Tottenham Hotspur face a crucial summer transfer window as they head into an exciting period in the club’s history.

The Lilywhites are set to move into their £1billion new home at the start of next season, which will see their stadium’s capacity increase from 36,000 to around 60,000.

Hopefully the club will also have more Champions League to look forward to, although the race for the top four is getting increasingly tight this season.

Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy will need to be shrewd but bold in the transfer window, looking to bring players in that will help the club begin their new modern era with a bang.

And, if reports are to be believed, the duo are on the right track ahead of their crucial summer.

As reported by The Times, Spurs are to reignite their interest in Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha this summer.

The newspaper claim that Spurs will make a fresh move to sign the 25-year-old after failing several times to land the Ivory Coast international in the past.

The Times report that Spurs will have to beat off competition from Chelsea and Manchester City to land Zaha, who is set to cost around £50million.

What a signing Zaha would be for Tottenham.

The speed machine has shown time and again for Palace that he belongs at a higher level, and his continued improvement shows no sign of letting up.

The winger still has several years left in his footballing development, and under a coach like Pochettino, the sky is the limit for the 25-year-old.

His pace in wide areas is an asset that Tottenham have been lacking massively in the last few seasons, but Zaha brings so much more than that.

His trickery allows him to fly past players with ease, and his final product is now a big danger for opposition sides, having contributed many of Palace’s most important goals and assists this season.

Spurs have just signed a winger in Lucas Moura, who impressed in his full debut against Rochdale over the weekend, but it is Zaha who would take Spurs to the next level.

An attacking force of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Son Heung-Min, Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela and Zaha would be the most formidable in the country, only possibly bested by Manchester City’s striking riches.

Spurs are already a handful for opponents, but Zaha would just take them up that extra notch and really announce their arrival at the pinnacle of English football.

£50million may seem like a lot, but this would be a statement signing, and to make a statement you have to spend money.

Also, to be spending that amount of money at a time when the club have just financed a new stadium would be a massive statement in itself.

In short, Spurs must reignite their interest in Zaha this summer, and really cement their place at the top of the English game for years to come.
