Patrick Roberts caused Celtic fans to share their jubilation on social media after he featured for the Hoops’ development side on Friday.

The 21-year-old played 57 minutes of the development team’s game against Partick Thistle as he stepped up his return from injury.

Roberts hasn’t played for Celtic’s senior team since November after suffering a hamstring injury in their 1-1 draw with Motherwell.

The winger helped the development team win 1-0 on Friday, with Jack Aitchison scoring the only goal of the game.

Roberts was in tremendous form for the Hoops ahead of his injury, and showcased his impressive ability in the 12 appearances he made this season.

The 21-year-old is only set to be at Celtic for another four months, with his loan from Manchester City set to end in June.

Manchester City may not keep him at the club for long, once he returns, with the Scottish Sun previously reporting that Pep Guardiola was set to let Roberts leave the club.

The newspaper claimed that West Ham and Leicester City would fight for his signature in the summer, with the Premier League clubs potentially willing to pay £15million for him.

While he may not be at Celtic Park for much longer, fans shared their excitement over the winger potentially returning to action soon.

One supporter tweeted that it would be good to have him back, while another fan said that when Roberts was fit he would be one of the first names on the team sheet.
