Celtic put in a brilliant team performance to overcome Zenit St. Petersburg 1-0 at Parkhead in the Europa League last-32 on Thursday, and fans have taken to Twitter to rave about the display of midfielder Eboue Kouassi.
The 20-year-old Ivorian midfielder was a surprise starter for Celtic as they returned to European knockout football, but he dominated proceedings for the Hoops on the night.
Callum McGregor scored the only goal of the night when he controlled a chipped ball through from Charly Musonda to slam home off the crossbar, and the Bhoys held on for a brilliant first-leg win.
They will head to St. Petersburg next week for the second leg in high spirits, knowing that an away goal will put them in great stead to go through to the last-16 of the competition.
It was only Kouassi’s 11th appearance of the season with the Ivorian well down in the pecking order in central midfield under Brendan Rodgers, but the youngster seriously impressed on the night.
His muscular play helped shield the Hoops back four from attacks, and his passing was a great feature of their play going forward as well.
Fans took to Twitter after the game to rave about his display.

Eboue Kouassi has played really well tonight, Strong, simple, effective and with good feet. I hope we don't miss his physical stature towards the end of the game.

Tonight is the first time I have understood Rodgers' comments about making his mind up on signing Kouassi within minutes. Fantastic shift from the big man.
