Celtic fans on social media destroyed Moussa Dembele for his performance against Zenit St Petersburg on Thursday night.

The Hoops suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat to the Russian giants on Thursday, which ended their Europa League campaign for the season.

Several Bhoys fans took to Twitter to slam several players for their performances against Zenit but big-name striker Dembele got the brunt of their criticism.

One Celtic supporter tweeted that the 21-year-old wasn’t even worth a Mars bar following that display, while another shared that he looked a shadow of the player he previously was.

Dembele has made 29 appearances this season and scored nine goals, which is a drastically worse goal return for the forward compared to last season.

During the last campaign, Dembele scored 32 goals in 49 outings, meaning he averaged a goal every 105 minutes.

The centre-forward’s form last season caused teams to be interested in signing him in January, with Brendan Rodgers telling the Scottish Sun at the time that the transfer speculation had led to him under-performing.

The newspaper reported that the forward was linked with a £20million move to the Premier League, as Brighton, Crystal Palace and Everton were all believed to be interested in signing him.

One supporter shared on Twitter following Dembele’s performance against Zenit that they wished they had cashed in.
