Aston Villa fans were furious with Sam Johnstone on social media on Saturday as they were annoyed that he made a mistake which helped Fulham defeat them.
The Villans suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Cottagers on Saturday which ended their recent winning run as prior to the game they had won their last seven league games in row.
This run of form had seen them climb to second in the league, but they were unable to keep the run going against a Fulham side who were unbeaten in their last nine league games.
However despite the recent positive results, Villans fans were still fuming with their goalkeeper who aided Fulham’s bid to get all three points on Saturday.
Johnstone kicked the ball directly to Floyd Ayite and the 29-year-old took advantage of the goalkeeper’s mistake by firing the ball into the goal from 50-yards-out to give Fulham a 2-0 lead.
The Whites had taken the lead earlier in the game after Ryan Sessegnon grabbed his seventh league goal of 2018.
One Villans fan suggested Johnstone had made an error worthy of previous goalkeeper Brad Guzan, while another supporter stated that the 24-year-old had just lost his side the game.
