MLS club Colorado Rapids are weighing up a move for Aston Villa’s centre-forward Ross McCormack, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that the American outfit are keen to bolster their attacking options and are considering the 31-year-old.

It is understood Colorado Rapids are also looking at Championship ace Joe Mason from Wolves as they turn to England’s second tier to find talent.

McCormack has returned to Villa after spending the first half of the season out on loan with Australian A-League club Melbourne City, where he scored 14 goals in just 17 games.

The Scotland international has 120 Championship goals under his belt, but has fallen out of favour with the Midlands giants.

Good move for Villa?

It would make sense to move on McCormack as the striker’s long-term future is clearly not at Villa Park.

Steve Bruce does already have several alternative options in attack and his side are doing alright without him as they compete for promotion back to the Premier League.

McCormack is certainly a goalscorer and his time at Villa has been a disappointment, which is why cutting ties is best for both parties.

Likely to happen?

McCormack’s Villa career seems practically over barring a sensational U-turn and it would no surprise to see him move overseas to continue his career.
