Graeme Souness believes that Tottenham will finish in the top four of the Premier League this season and has even stated he could envisage them reaching the Champions League final.

Spurs are still fighting on several front this season and face Rochdale on Sunday afternoon in the FA Cup fifth round.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are also trying to finish inside the top four of the Premier League, but are currently fifth in the standings and a point adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea.

Meanwhile, the north London club are currently involved in a last 16 Champions League tie with Juventus and managed to record a 2-2 away draw in the first leg to leave them in a good position.

Sky Sports pundit Souness believes that Spurs could enjoy a strong end to the season and achieve their aim of a top four spot at the very least.

They have become renowned in recent years for finishing seasons in great form and will hope to replicate that once again.

“Jose Mourinho’s side must be looking over their shoulders, given the way they are playing compared to Liverpool and Tottenham,” Souness wrote in the Times.

“I reckon Tottenham and Liverpool will get there and United will need to hold off Chelsea to finish fourth.

“It could even be an all-England final [in the Champions League] because Tottenham were impressive against Juventus in Turin.”

OPINION

Spurs would certainly be pleased with their season if they finish in the top four and go deep into the Champions League, which would show further progress under Pochettino. They appear to be hitting their stride and have a very strong squad at their disposal that can match up to most. However, the importance of the FA Cup should not be overlooked and it would be a great deal to the Spurs fans if they can finally win some silverware with Pochettino at the helm. They have the quality to do so and appear to have a fairly comfortable route to the semi-finals if they play anywhere near their best.
